Why (GreenArt)?

We never throw anything away, nothing is wasted.  Failed paintings - tear them up and use them in collage.  Paint left on a pallette at the end of a session - Spread it on a sheet of paper as a background for a new painting or soak it up onto tissue paper to use in another painting. Waste not want not.

Barbara

Barbara trained as a Primary School teacher (specialising in ‘Early Years’) at Rachel McMillan College of Education, London.  During this time she studied all aspects of the primary education curriculum but concentrated, as a main subject area, on Art – printing and textiles.  The College was linked with Goldsmiths and shared lecturers in the Arts subject areas.

After completing her Certificate in Education she taught for thirteen years in several Primary Schools in Birmingham.  She also studied for and completed a B.Phil.Ed. degree at Warwick University and a Diploma in Special Needs Education with the Open University.  During these years she saw the value that Art had in the curriculum of primary aged children.  They became totally absorbed!

Barbara uses recyclable materials, printing inks, watercolours and acrylics in her work, but also experiment with other media.

Rod

Rod, following a long career in the Water Industry, now devotes much of his time to his watercolour, acrylic and mixed media painting.  His inspiration comes from the changing moods of nature, which he attempts to catch in his landscapes and seascapes, and from the texture and ‘hidden’ shapes found in natural forms such as tree bark and rocks.  He enjoys experimenting with a variety of  techniques and bases to add texture and interest to finished paintings.  He exhibits his paintings at local art exhibitions and won the ‘2003 Patchings Award’, in the Leisure Painter category, in the annual exhibition at the Patchings Art Centre, Nottingham, organised by ‘The Artist’ and ‘Leisure Painter’ magazines .
